The cover is intact but shows some wrinkles and fraying, and the title page has the name of a previous owner. The other pages of the book are intact and in excellent condition. Otherwise the book is in very good condition. The book is meant for a young child to read, though it is also good to read to a child. Grouchy Bear is grouchy because Marcella selected him and named him that because of how he looked at the toy store. He wanted to join in the fun with the other dolls and toys, but he thought he was obliged to be grouchy. In the book he learned that it was okay to act like he feeled and lead the teddy bear parade and have fun like he wanted to.
